Donor Stories
The Grace Community Birth Center (GCBC) would not be lifting a single spade of dirt to begin construction on the birth center without generous people like you and the donors we are going to tell you a little something about. GCBC has donors that endeavor to make gifts, be they small or large, that will have real impact in the real world. Our donors are both traditional donors who write a check and individuals who create unique opportunities for funds to be generated for GCBC. When you are raising money for a birth center this seems appropriate given that no two babies are born into their mama's arms in quite the same way!
The GCBC Board of Directors is excited to share this brief snapshot of a few donors:
Tara Mulder
"Ninotte and I have been friends since 2011. She is one of the smartest, most dedicated, and passionate people I know and I believe wholeheartedly in her mission to help the families of Haiti. That is why I donate 100% of the profits from my hobby-turned-business, Tara Bella Botanicals, to the Grace Community Birth Center project. Last year that came to nearly $4,500."
Mary Jankowski
"Having spent some time with Ninotte in the past few years, I know that she is the real deal! I know she is well trained and great at what she does. I support her endeavors because of her passion for Haitian women. Everything she does, from relationships with the young girls, teaching them about birth control,self-esteem, marketable crafts, and more, lifts up those very impoverished women of her small island. She has a passion for maternity care and safe birthing, and infant care, that will impact her region in immeasurable ways for years to come!"
Rachel Jones
"After receiving care from Dance of Life Midwifery, we felt passionate about women everywhere having access to the thorough, compassionate midwife-model of care. Looking for a way to give back, we asked guests at our son's first birthday party to donate to GCBC rather than bringing a gift. This felt like a special way to celebrate him and honor his birth, while also supporting a mission we believe in."
Josh and Kate Vander Hyden
"Ninotte is passionate about making a difference in the world and her community. She has a heart for both God and people.
When we support Ninotte we support love, promotion, and betterment for the community of Grand-Basin.
Crowds don't change the world, people do."
“I have been a monthly supporter of Grace for years. I have the honor of knowing Ninotte Lubin as well as calling her a dear friend. Because I know what a dynamic person she is, I know that my money is going to work that is being done at the local level by local people who care about their own communities. Because Grace’s board is volunteer, I know that all of the money I give goes to direct programs that benefit those in the Terrier Rouge community. I have also had the opportunity to spend a couple months in the gorgeous country of Haiti and have seen the incredible difficulty people experience to receive prenatal and birth care, which leads to poor outcomes and death. I love that Grace can offer safe affordable care to those who need it and that it is run by an amazing Haitian midwife with a heart of gold. It is by far my favorite organization to donate to.”
